Berkshire Masonic Charity
Information provided by The Provincial Grand Lodge of Berkshire.
In 1987, the RW Provincial Grand Master launched an Appeal to provide capital for a fund, the income from which would be used for Masonic and Non-Masonic charitable purposes within the Province. Substantial capital was raised, earning income to fulfil these purposes.
The Trust Deed was signed in July 1991. The objects of the Charity are exclusively charitable:
- To relieve poverty and distress among inhabitants of and visitors to the Masonic Province of Berkshire.
- To support and provide funds for any other wholly charitable organisation which operates to relieve poverty and distress.
- To advance religion and education.
- To support any charitable trusts or organisations that may benefit all or some of the inhabitants of or visitors to the Province.
- To carry out such other legally charitable purposes as the Trustees shall from time to time declare.
Lodges (Craft and Mark) and Royal Arch Chapters may make applications for support on behalf of individuals or worthy local causes. Application forms are typically available from the provincial office.
Since its inception, the charity has made significant grants to numerous recipients.
